Meet Walker Hansen, AMFT

I have always felt most at home in connected communities. That sense of belonging has shaped the way I approach my work: with kindness, humor, and a deep respect for the unique ways people experience and navigate the world. After earning my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute, I worked with high school students in San Francisco, and I now work with adults and adolescents through a psychodynamic lens.

I see therapy as a space for exploration—one where we can pause and consider how the different pieces of life fit together. Often, people arrive feeling pulled in different directions: the demands of relationships, the pressure of work, and the weight of responsibilities that leave little room to find joy, rest, or balance. Clinically, I’m drawn to the moments when we can listen more closely—not just to what’s happening on the surface, but to the stories we tell ourselves, the patterns that we repeat, and the quieter experiences that often go unnoticed. I think of therapy as a place where the practical parts of daily life meet the deeper, unconscious dynamics that shape how we live and feel.

For me, one of the most meaningful aspects of my work is the reminder that life isn’t meant to be carried alone. When our struggles and celebrations are shared—whether with family, friends, partners, or in the therapeutic relationship itself—they begin to take on new meaning.

If this feels like the kind of therapy you’re looking for, I’d be glad to connect.
